During the month of March 2017, two staff members of the Office for International Education (OIE) of the Nelson Mandela University (NMU) travelled to Kaohsiung, Taiwan to attend the annual Asia Pacific Association for International Education (APAIE) conference which was held from 20-23 March.

On 6 March 2017, the Office for International Education of the Nelson Mandela University welcomed its third short programme for the year onto campus, St Petersburg College from Florida in the United States of America (USA).

The South African National Roads Agency (SOC) Limited (SANRAL) has appointed its first research associate at its Southern Region.
Keith Nare is a doctoral candidate who also volunteers as a maths and science and homework club mentor.
Despite Ahmed Kathrada being elderly, the news of his illness and subsequent passing still came as a shock to many around the country including staff of the OIE at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU). Today we reflect back to 2010, when ‘Uncle Kathy’ graced the NMMU with his presence to celebrate the 150 year anniversary of the arrival of Indian people in South Africa in 1860.
Not too long after the 2017 New Years’ Celebrations, the Nelson Mandela University’s Office for International Education welcomed its first group of short programme students on campus on 3 January.
